SANTA FE โย The office of New Mexicoโs Attorney General Raรบl Torrez admitted in a statement announcing the stateโs lawsuit against Meta that some instances of CSAM are ten times โmore prevalentโ on Facebook and Instagram than on Pornhub and OnlyFans.
New Mexico has sued Meta and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, โalleging that the companyโs platforms enabled child sexual abuse material to be distributed, and failed to identify alleged predator networks,โ CNBC reported.
Torrez filed the lawsuit after an undercover investigation, which New Mexico alleges โrevealed myriad instances of sexually explicit content being served to minors, child sexual coercion, or the sale of CSAM.โ
The New Mexico AG office said through a statement that Zuckerberg and other Meta executives โare aware of the serious harm their products can pose to young users, and yet they have failed to make sufficient changes to their platforms that would prevent the sexual exploitation of children. Despite repeated assurances to Congress and the public that they can be trusted to police themselves, it is clear that Metaโs executives continue to prioritize engagement and ad revenue over the safety of the most vulnerable members of our society.โ
โThe Officeโs investigators found that certain child exploitative content is over ten times more prevalent on Facebook and Instagram than it is on Pornhub and OnlyFans,โ the AG office statement noted.
